West Auckland RDA, formerly known as Henderson RDA, is one of fifty six RDA groups throughout New Zealand who provide opportunities for children and adults whose disability limits their quality of life. We are a voluntary non-profit organisation which means we rely on the generosity of the community and businesses to ensure that we are able to continue to provide a high level of service to our riders.
We were established in 1976 on the grounds of Henderson Pony Club at Henderson Valley Park.
Riding for the Disabled provides riding therapy for children who:
- Are physically challenged with conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, paraplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, brain injury, stroke or have visual and hearing impairment; or
- Have intellectual disabilities or multiple disabilities; or
- Have learning disabilities
Our goal is:
To provide confidence, independence and well being for people with disabilities through therapeutic horse riding and horse care.
We operate during school terms, at Henderson Valley Pony Club grounds, 201A Henderson Valley Road. Our rallies are on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 9 am and 12 noon.
