About Us/Contact Us
The Henderson group of the Riding for the Disabled is one of fifty-two groups throughout New Zealand who provide opportunities for children and adults whose disability limits their quality of life.We are a voluntary non-profit organisation who receives no funding from the Government which means we rely on the generosity of the community and businesses to ensure that we are able to continue to provide a high level of service to our riders.
We were established in 1976 and operate during school terms 1, 2 & 4 in conjunction with the Henderson Valley Pony Club on Henderson Valley Road.
Riding for the Disabled caters for children who:
- Are physically challenged with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, paraplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, brain injury, stroke or have visual and hearing impairment; or
- Have intellectual disabilities or multiple disabilities; or
- Have learning disabilities
Our goal is:
To provide confidence, independence and well being for people with disabilities through therapeutic horse riding and horse care.
